First CFP rankings have Ohio State football fans defending Michigan: Social reactions

If the season ended today, the Ohio State Buckeyes would play Georgia in the College Football Playoff national semifinals.

Ohio State is the No. 2 team in the country. Georgia is third. No.1 Tennessee would play No. 4 Clemson. Undefeated Michigan was No. 5.

It wasn't much of a surprise that the Buckeyes were in the top four of the playoff committee's first set of rankings that were revealed on Nov. 1. Ranked No. 2 (along with Tennessee) in the AP poll, the 8-0 Buckeyes are once again on pace to be in the playoff, which last happened in 2020. The Buckeyes reached the national championship game after its eight-game season that year.
