First Coronavirus Death In Basking Ridge
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The first new coronavirus-related death has been reported in Basking Ridge, confirmed Mayor Jim Baldassare Friday.
The 95-year-old died on March 28 and was later confirmed to have COVID-19 recently, Baldassare said.
As of Friday, Bernards Township has 37 positive cases of COVID-19, according to the Somerset County Department of Public Health.
Somerset County has a total of 641 positive cases and 23 deaths as of Friday.

Gov. Phil Murphy provided another grim update on the coronavirus outbreak on Friday, announcing 4,372 new cases – the highest daily number yet – and 113 more deaths. The rising fatality rate shows that coronavirus is fast surpassing all causes of death, based on the most recent daily averages, in the Garden State.
