Here are the top five stories in Tampa today:

1. Floridians can start their 2022 off positively with First Day Hike at over 175 Florida state parks. First Day Hike is when people around the nation go hiking to start off the year. There are ranger-guided hikes are offered at some state parks for those interested. (Florida Patch)

2. A record week for new COVID-19 cases in Florida continued as the latest data showed 75,962 new cases reported to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) from the Sunshine State on Thursday. Demand for testing is also increasing as the virus spreads. (WPLG Local 10)

3. The 2022 Outback Bowl will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa today at noon. Arkansas will face Penn State. Those unable to make it to the game can watch on ESPN 2. The Outback Bowl is one of the oldest college bowl games played going back to 1986. (WTSP)

4. 4 people fainted Friday morning while waiting for COVID-19 testing at the Al Lopez Park testing site in Tampa. City of Tampa is reminding residents to bring water bottles and folding chairs to keep cool while waiting in line as lines can be quite long. (Tampa Bay Times)

5. The Hall at Midtown is planning for its opening at Midtown Tampa after leaving Tampa Heights. The 8,000-square-foot space is the largest food and beverage establishment at Midtown Tampa and will have more than 300 seats as well as a 1,200-square-foot patio.
