First five players announced for upcoming Ellesse Pro Tennis Challenge in Wyomissing [updated]

Aug. 9—A top 100 player in the world is one of the four announced participants in the Ellesse Pro Tennis Challenge, which will be held Aug. 19-20 at the Emkey Tennis Garden in Wyomissing.

Hugo Gaston of France is ranked 76th by the ATP, making him the player with the highest current ranking in the history of the event, which is in its third year.

The other confirmed players are Ryan Harrison of the United States, who has won a French Open doubles title; Jonas Forejtek of the Czech Republic; Sumit Nagal of India; and Inaki Montes de la Torre of Spain, who plays at the University of Virginia.

The final player will be announced closer to the event.

Gaston, 21, achieved a career-high ranking of 58th earlier this year. He reached the round of 32 at this year's French Open and the round of 64 at Wimbledon.

Harrison, 30, has been ranked as high as 40th by the ATP in singles and 16th in doubles. He has won one ATP singles title (2017 in Memphis) and four doubles titles, including the French Open in 2017. He currently is ranked 588th in singles.

Forejtek, 21, is ranked 217th in the world in singles, which is the highest of his career.

Nagal, 24, a Davis Cup player for India, has been ranked as high as 122nd in the world in 2020. He currently is ranked 504th.

Montes de la Torre, 19, has yet to turn pro, but is ranked 519th in the world by the ATP. As a sophomore this spring, he helped Virginia win the NCAA championship. He was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and was a singles All-American.

Round-robin play in singles will be Aug. 19. The semifinals and finals will be Aug. 20.

The event, which is presented by the Berks County Tennis Association, benefits scholarships for the City of Reading (COR Tennis) program through Reading Recreation Commission.

In addition to the two days of the tournament, Harrison will be conducting a one-hour youth clinic for juniors ages 12 and up on Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Hampden Park.
