Easton Town Center has announced Italian luxury fashion house Gucci will be coming to the shopping center's North District this spring. It will be the brand's only freestanding Gucci location in the state.

The 5,000-square-foot storefront, most recently home to Henri Bendel, is adjacent to luxury brands Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co. at 4120 The Strand East.

Easton’s luxury brands also include RH Columbus, The Gallery at Easton Town Center and Tory Burch.

Jennifer Peterson, chief executive at Easton, said Gucci will bring a "unique" experience to the shopping destination.

"Gucci is one of the most revered luxury brands in the world, around for over 100 years. And beloved by that luxury shopper," said Peterson. "The Gucci brand is extremely selective about where they go. So we think it's a real win for Columbus and Easton."

Peterson said the location is a "signature spot" that Easton has hoped Gucci would fill since the closing of Henri Bendel in 2019.

"These things take time, and of course a global pandemic can pause things," she said.

The announcement comes as the retail industry attempts to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, and Easton has not been an exception to its impact. But Peterson said the shopping destination has "fared well," all considered. Easton added 23 brands in 2021 and looks to add more this year.

Peterson said like Gucci, more brands are looking to enter the Ohio market via Easton.

"We know that Easton is a top center in the country, but certainly in the state, as brands are considering whether they want to be in Ohio," she said. "Easton does lever up to the top of the consideration set."
