First-hand, passionate views from people who've been there

Dear Valued Subscriber,

Welcome to Don't Miss Reads, our weekly newsletter highlighting some of our editors' favorite stories, photos and videos that you might have missed.

I'm Clytie Bunyan, managing editor for diversity, community engagement & opinion. What a week of riviting news — from our local elections and the ongoing Epic schools saga to national politics around the Jan. 6 hearings and U.S. Supreme Court rulings. We've tried to keep up and bring you updates as quickly as we're able.

In Viewpoints, our social media readers shared their passionate reactions to the court's ruling overturning Roe v Wade in our Public Square, and Kim Garrett at Palomar Family Justice Center in Oklahoma City explained why Oklahoma's pro-life legislation and the court's decision could be a death sentence for abused women.

You also might have missed commentary from a "Dreamer" who explained that, after 10 years, more than 6,000 Oklahoma residents in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program are still existing in survival mode because their legal status remain unresolved.

Other opinion commentary explored whether extremists have hijacked our politics, how Community Court can change people's lives, and the Rev. Lori Walke's plea to support teens and help them avoid risky behaviors.

Below are links to more of our editors' favorite stories of the week. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did.
