Jul. 24—A six-run first inning got the Medford Rogues off on the right foot as they were able to secure a 13-8 win over the visiting Cascade College League All-Stars late Friday night at Harry & David Field.

The Rogues (19-16-1) were set to continue the series Saturday and Sunday with 6:35 p.m. start times.

Tyler Peterson kick-started a steady 3-for-5 effort on Friday with a leadoff single in the bottom of the first and scored after a double by Emiliano Alarcon and RBI single by Reece MacRae.

With two outs, Grayson Grinsell drew a walk to load the bases and Grant Henry followed with a two-run single to make it 3-0. Blake Young tacked on a two-run single and scored after an error on a grounder by Michael LaVigne to give Medford a 6-0 cushion.

The CCL All-Stars were able to trim their deficit to 6-4 before a middle-inning surge by Medford put the contest away.

Henry finished 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBIs, while Young was 2-for-4 with one run and four RBIs for the Rogues. Peterson also drove in two runs.

Jacob Memmott picked up his second win of the summer in relief, allowing one hit with three strikeouts and one walk in two scoreless innings. Jacob Liberta closed the door with two hitless innings, allowing only one walk with three strikeouts in the final two frames.
