First look as DC's Sweet Tooth season 2 lands Netflix premiere

Netflix has confirmed the release date for season two of dystopian series Sweet Tooth, alongside several first-look images.
The streaming site announced that all eight episodes of the series will land on Thursday, April 27, nearly two years after season one's finale.
Adapted from Jeff Lemire's comic-books of the same name, follows half-human hybrid Gus (Christian Convery) as he attempts to find his mother in a post-apocalyptic society.
An official synopsis for the new season reads (via TVLine): "As a deadly new wave of the Sick bears down, Gus and a band of fellow hybrids are held prisoner by General Abbot (Neil Sandilands) and the Last Men.

"Looking to consolidate power by finding a cure, Abbot uses the children as fodder for the experiments of captive Dr. Aditya Singh (Adeel Akhtar), who’s racing to save his infected wife Rani (Aliza Vellani).
"To protect his friends, Gus agrees to help Dr. Singh, beginning a dark journey into his origins and his mother Birdie's (Amy Seimetz) role in the events leading up to The Great Crumble."
Meanwhile, Tommy Jepperd (Nonso Anozie) and Aimee Eden (Dania Ramirez) work to rescue the hybrids from captivity.
However, past secrets come to light which threaten to put Gus and his found family on a collision course against those who want to wipe them out once and for all.

Jim Mickle serves as writer, director, showrunner, and executive producer. Robert Downey Jr returns to executive produce the series, alongside Susan Downey, Amanda Burrell and Linda Moran.
In our five-star review of season one, Digital Spy described Sweet Tooth as exploring "the realities of post-apocalyptic life without descending into a never-ending spiral of despair".
Sweet Tooth season 1 is streaming on Netflix. Season 2 will premiere April 27.
