First Merchants Bank named one of '2022 Best Banks to Work For'

First Merchants Bank, with services in Muncie, was recently named by the American Banker among the “2022 Best Banks to Work For” in the country.

The company pointed out attributes putting First Merchants Bank on the list, including: inspiring an inviting workplace, improving employee career advancement and providing a daily feeling of a "meaningful larger purpose" in helping the financial wellness of the communities they serve.

“We are dedicated to helping you prosper,” said CEO Mark Hardwick in a release. “By prioritizing our employees and attentively listening to their needs, collectively, we are better equipped to serve you. I am grateful to our incredible employees for their hard work and commitment to being partners in the financial well-being of the communities we serve.”

According to Hardwick, giving employees a common mission encourages them to work as a team and sharpens their efforts to create stronger connections with clients and one another.

The bank also received two Comparably awards in 2022, one for “Best Leadership Team” and a second for “Best Work-Life Balance;" and being ranked among the top 20 banks by S&P Global Market Intelligence, as a “Best Bank by Newsweek” for a third year in a row, fourth on the list of “2022 Great Employers to Work for in Indiana” by Best Companies Group, and a ”Best in-State Bank” in Indiana for customer satisfaction by Forbes.
