First Ohio football poll of October: Moeller tops in DI, Badin leads DIII

In the first October media tally, the Ohio Associated Press has voted eight Southwest Ohio/Greater Cincinnati teams into the top 10 of Divisions I-VII in high school football. Among those, Moeller leads the state in Division I with Badin topping Division III.

The unbeaten Crusaders just clinched the Greater Catholic League-South for the first time since 2018 with a 42-14 victory over Elder last Friday at the University of Cincinnati's Nippert Stadium. Badin defeated Alter by that same 42-14 score to remain unblemished in Division III.

Second in the state in Division I is undefeated Lakota West while Princeton is at No. 7 with a lone loss to the Firebirds in Greater Miami Conference play. With the loss, 5-2 Elder dropped out of the top 10 at No. 11, followed by Fairfield at No. 12.

In Division II, 7-0 Winton Woods won a battle of unbeatens against Kings but still trails Akron Hoban, the team they defeated for last year's DII state title. Kings dropped to No. 8. Edgewood is barely out of the top 10 at No. 13.

Behind Badin in Division III is Western Brown at No. 5. In Division IV, 7-0 Wyoming is still second behind top-ranked Cleveland Glenville. Bishop Fenwick barely missed the top 10 at No. 11.
