First openly gay K-pop idol Holland says he was attacked in Itaewon, called ‘a dirty gay’
K-pop star Holland said he was attacked and called "a dirty gay" while walking around the city district of Itaewon in Seoul with his manager and a friend on Wednesday night.
Holland, whose real name is Go Tae-seob, wrote about the incident in a tweet on Thursday, showing the two cuts around his nose that he received from the attack.

“Last night, I was walking around Itaewon with my manager and a friend. Suddenly, a stranger man approached me and hit me on the face twice, calling me ‘a dirty gay,’ Now I have a scar on my face and I’m going to the hospital soon,” the 26-year-old “Neverland” singer wrote.
Holland said he has reported the incident to the authorities and hopes for the case to be “well solved.”
This is obviously a hate crime. The fact that my sexuality as gay is public should never expose myself to this kind of violence. Nor any other LGBT+ and all elders, women and minorities in this world. This happening in 2022 shows the sad reality of LGBT+ human rights.

“The fact that my sexuality as gay is public should never expose myself to this kind of violence,” Holland wrote in another tweet. “Nor any other LGBT+ and all elders, women and minorities in this world. This happening in 2022 shows the sad reality of LGBT+ human rights.”
I reported to the police and I hope the case is well solved.

Holland, who became the first openly gay K-pop idol in South Korea in 2018, revealed during a livestream on March 24 that he now has a boyfriend who he wants to marry.
