First round: Meet the 32 contenders in our March Madness sandwich bracket

Bartender Alcario Artuso, center, works the bar at Pickle Barrel in Fort Collins on Mar. 1, 2023.

Who's ready for a little friendly competition with all the fixings?

The Coloradoan is back with another March Madness-inspired food bracket. While we've taken on breakfast burritos, burgers, wings and bakeries in the past, this year is all about trying to find Fort Collins' favorite sandwich.

How our March Madness sandwich bracket works

We've started with a crop of 32 contenders (listed below), including a mix of locally-grown sub shops, restaurants and familiar chains.

First-round voting will start on the Coloradoan's Instagram story at 10 a.m. Monday, March 6. Votes will be counted until 10 p.m. that night.

Voting for the next rounds will take place daily until 10 p.m. with the Sweet 16 voting on Tuesday, March 7; Elite 8 voting on Wednesday, March 8; Final 4 voting on Thursday, March 9; and the final matchup on Friday, March 10.

Our bracket winner will be announced the following week.
