First Spring Into Action 5K and 2-Mile Walk held recently at the Watertown Regional Library
Twenty-eight 5K runners were among the 88 participants recently in the first Spring Into Action 5K and 2-mile walk.
The event started and ended at the Watertown Regional Library
Owen McElroy was the top overall finisher in the 5K with a time of 18 minutes and 37 seconds. Grace McElroy was the top female finisher in 21:32.
Excellent support came from the Watertown Police Department using the D.A.S.H to empower youth, Drug-Free, Alcohol-free, Safe and Healthy. Watertown Regional Librarian Dee Dee Whitman and her staff assisted the police department with the race.
Medals were awarded to the top three finishers in each age group in the 5K.
Following the race, Stephen Heidenreich — speaker, author, advocate and former world-class running athlete — autographed his Running To Win Strategies To Triumph in Record Time to the gold medalists in each age division.
