(WJW) — “Every saga has a beginning.”

So goes the tag line for the re-release of “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Episode I” returning to theaters this spring in honor of the film’s 25th anniversary.

As first reported by Empire Magazine, the film is booming back into movie theaters on a weekend that’s near and dear to Star Wars fans’ heart: May 4 (yes, May the force 4th be with you as well). Theaters begin showing the movie starting Friday, May 3.

The film came out back in 1999, going on to be one of the highest grossing box office movies of its time.

Of course, as no new “Star Wars” film had come out since 1983, expectations were quite high for “Phantom Menace,” some of which were not met for many fans.

However, in recent years, some fans have come full circle, truly embracing Episodes 1-3 — at least according to Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker (aka Darth Vader).

“I think that those movies have held up well over time,” he recently told Empire Magazine. “It feels like vindication for the work that we did. Everyone that worked on those movies thought that we were part of something special. We all wanted to do our very best work, and we cared a lot about it. And so to see the response from the fans now, it’s very cool.”
