RINDGE, N.H. (NEXSTAR) – The state of New Hampshire has held the “first in the nation” primary spot since 1968, and every year, new voters head to the polls. This year, it’s the first time 18-year-old Grace Buchalski will be casting a ballot. Buchalski’s choice this primary season, is Nikki Haley. She said she sees something different from Haley that she feels other candidates don’t have – spirit.

“When I’m looking at Nikki versus all the other candidates, I see the inspiration in her that I don’t see in all the other candidates,” said Buchalski.

Buchalski is a young voter and said that Haley’s most compelling promises include strengthening healthcare and lowering wait times for veterans, as well as transparency between parents and the public school system. Haley has vowed to make curriculum accessible to parents through online resources. But like some New Hampshire voters, Buchalski doesn’t want to see another 2020 matchup between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

“As a young person, I want some change, and I want to see our country headed in a new direction,” said Buchalski.

Buchalski, like many young voters, plans to head to the polls on Tuesday as the Granite State hands down a decision that the entire nation will be waiting on.
