The 45th annual First Town Days celebration kicks off Thursday at Tuscora Park.

The festival begins Thursday with the official opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. Immediately following at 6:30 will be the 2022 Commemorative Plate auction. This year's plate honors the 250th anniversary of the founding of Schoenbrunn Village. The first five plates are auctioned off each year with the proceeds used for various projects at Tuscora Park supported by the First Town Days Festival Committee and to help offset festival expenses. Plates will also be available for purchase following the auction.

Joe Croft, the First Town Days committee president, said he is looking forward to this year's event and praised the volunteers and sponsors that help make this weekend possible.

"We've added the Cronebaugh Auction Tent for afternoon and evening entertainment," he said. "It's going to be mostly local groups performing, but it will give people something else to do."

Not that the First Town Days will be lacking for activities.

The midway opens at 4 on Thursday with opening remarks following at 6 on the Al Maloney Midway Stage. The plate auction is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The annual parade steps off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and the fireworks show is scheduled for 10 p.m. Saturday.

Family Day activities will kick off Monday morning.

Croft said he's putting last-minute details together for Monday and is still seeking volunteers.

"We have 10 or 12 people on our committee, but there are never enough volunteers," he said. "Sponsors are the same. We have great sponsors, but you can always use more."
