The Batman spinoff series centred around Colin Farrell's The Penguin is currently in production, and we've got a trailer to give us a hint as to what we can expect.

Combining filmed footage and footage of the filming itself, the trailer shows Penguin (real name: Oswald Cobblepot) doing his usual gangsterly duties: threatening people, going for drinks in fancy establishments and doing a little bit of murder, for good measure.

We also get him monologuing about how people like him are treated unfairly and need to take what they want to get by in this world, while promising to be Gotham City's new kingpin of crime.

The trailer also gets viewers familiar with the re-branding of streaming service HBO Max, which now goes by the name... Max. Following the merger of HBO-parent company Warner Bros and Discovery, the revamped streamer will contain content from both.

Speaking about the spinoff series last year, Farrell said that he was excited to explore Oswald Cobblepot's rise to power.

"The world that Matt Reeves created for The Batman is one that warrants a deeper gaze through the eyes of Oswald Cobblepot," he said.

"I couldn't be more excited about continuing this exploration of Oz as he rises through the darkened ranks to become The Penguin," he added.

"[It] will be good to get him back on the streets of Gotham for a little madness and a little mayhem."

As well as featuring The Banshees of Inisherin actor Farrell reprising his role from The Batman, the show has also cast Runaways actor Rhenzy Feliz, How I Met Your Mother actress Cristin Milioti, The Walking Dead star Michael Zegen, Sons of Anarchy actor Theo Rossi and legendary actor Clancy Brown, who's playing Sal Maroni.

The Penguin is set for a 2024 release.
