Candyman is back in the terrifying first trailer for the horror sequel – and we didn't even have to say his name five times.

The new movie is a "spiritual sequel" to the classic 1992 horror, starring Tony Todd, and has been co-written by Get Out and Us director Jordan Peele.

Aquaman and Watchmen's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is in the lead role, playing the grown-up Anthony McCoy (the baby from the first movie).

As it was in the original movie, Candyman is an urban legend in the Cabrini-Green public housing development in Chicago, that is now gentrified.

The trailer opens with five students deciding to test out the urban legend and, unsurprisingly, it doesn't end well for them. We're then introduced to Abdul-Mateen's artist who wants to "spread the story of Candyman".

Why? Who knows. But he's come up with an art exhibition that "invites you to summon him" which, again, sounds like a terrible idea.

They do though and it seems as though the sequel will see Candyman pick the artist as his next victim, becoming "another one of his terrible stories", although we never fully see Candyman in the flesh in the trailer.

What we get instead is a haunting, slowed-down version of Destiny's Child classic 'Say My Name', ensuring that you'll never hear that track in the same way again.

Candyman also stars WandaVision's Teyonah Parris and Fear the Walking Dead's Colman Domingo. It's not clear yet if Tony Todd will be reprising his iconic role, but it's widely expected that he'll appear.

All together now… Candyman. Candyman. Candyman. Candyman. Candyman.

Candyman will be released on June 12, 2020.
