The first trailer for Children of the Corn, starring Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s Callan Mulvey, has dropped.

The horror film is a remake of the 1984 film, which in turn was based on Stephen King’s 1977 short story.

The plot follows 12-year-old Eden (Kate Moyer), who recruits a group of children to take control of a town after being possessed by a dying spirit.

“Tired of having to pay the price for their parent's mistakes, Eden leads the kids on a bloody rampage, killing the adults and anyone who opposes her. With all the adults jailed or dead, it comes down to one high schooler who won't go along with the plan and becomes the town's only hope of survival,” reads the logline.

Co-starring alongside Mulvey and Moyer are Elena Kampouris, Bruce Spence and Stephen Hunter, with Kurt Wimmer writing and directing the adaptation. The film premiered in 2020, before being acquired by streaming service Shudder last month.

The film will have a limited theatrical release in the US on March 3, before streaming on Shudder from March 21; there is currently no release date for the UK.

Mulvey played Jack Rollins in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in both The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Endgame. The fourth film in the Captain America franchise, New World Order, is due to be released next year.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently confirmed there would be a major twist for the upcoming film, with Harrison Ford set to take over the role of Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross from the late William Hurt.

“With Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger. There's a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson,” said Feige of the casting and Ross’ rise to President.

“They have a history together, but in this film, we'll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible,” he added.

Children of the Corn will be released on Shudder in the US on March 21. Captain America: New World Order has been officially confirmed. Meanwhile, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is streaming exclusively on Disney+.
