Disney+ has released the trailer for the true crime movie Boston Strangler, ahead of its debut on the streaming service next month.

Pirates of the Caribbean and Love Actually actress Keira Knightley leads as Loretta McLaughlin, a newspaper reporter working on the lifestyle desk who begins to notice a string of women being killed by strangulation. Intrigued, she decided to investigate.

Unfortunately, she faces a whole host of systemic roadblocks, from her paper not wanting to take on the police force over the lack of action, to the rampant sexism of the era. With her confidante Jean Cole, played by Fargo and Avengers: Infinity War's Carrie Coon, she decides to take matters into her own hands.

Soon enough, the whole city is aware of the killings and outraged that the police haven't caught the person who did them, while the authorities can't even be sure if it's one person or more.

But Loretta doesn't just stop at bringing the story to light. Against Jean's advice, she goes to confront who she thinks is the killer one-on-one...

The film also stars The Suicide Squad's David Dastmalchian, The Many Saints of Newark's Alessandro Nivola, Little Women's Chris Cooper, and The Gilded Age's Morgan Spector.

While promoting The Gilded Age in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy last year, Taissa Farmiga explained what it was like working with Carrie Coon, stating: "She's a phenomenal actress, but she's also, as a person, one of the most kind-hearted people I've met, while, at the same time, she'll bust your balls, and then also compliment you. And you're just like, 'I love you!'"

Boston Strangler will be available to stream on Disney+ from March 17.
