Guardians of the Galaxy star Vin Diesel is swapping Groot for another popular comic book character in his new movie Bloodshot, and now, we've finally got a chance to see what it's all about.

Audiences got a first look at Diesel's character Raymond Garrison all the way back in January but Sony Pictures finally released the movie's first trailer on Monday (October 21).

The film follows super-soldier Ray, aka Bloodshot, who is brought back from the dead by a shady corporation through the use of nanotechnology. But is his mission for revenge quite as straightforward as it first seems?

"Suffering from total memory loss but imbued with an array of staggering new abilities, Ray struggles to reconnect with who he was while learning what sort of weapon he has become... aided by a team of fellow augmented combatants codenamed Chainsaw," the official synopsis continues.

To mark the countdown to the new trailer dropping, Sony released a very graphic new teaser clip that, if it's anything to go by, promises a lot of violence and bloodshed to come in the film too.

Bloodshot will be directed by Dave Wilson, with Outlander's Sam Heughan, Guy Pearce and Baby Driver's Eiza Gonzalez also set to star.

Teasing his character earlier this year, Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel described Raymond as "one of the must complex characters" he's ever played.

"Ray Garrison is a central character in the Valiant Comic Universe... And for me personally, one of the must complex characters I have been fortunate enough to play," he shared.
