Where to find fried fish deals for Lent at Cincinnati restaurants

Craving fish on Friday around Cincinnati? Sure, there are plenty of local fish fries to hit up around the region, but what do restaurants have to offer in the way of Lenten fish?

Here's a list of local restaurants and chains offering fish or meatless substitutes during Lent. But don't forget about that tried-and-true Cincinnati-born Filet-O-Fish from McDonald's. Never a bad place to start.

Frisch’s

  • Multiple locations.

Frisch's created two fish sandwiches just in time for Lent: the Stacked Fish sandwich and the Spicy Stacked Fish sandwich.

The Stacked Fish sandwich has two pieces of fish, two slices of cheese, tartar sauce, lettuce and pickle on a double-decker bun, and the Spicy Stacked Fish has spicy tartar and pepper jack.

Karrikin Spirits Company

  • 3717 Jonlen Drive, Fairfax.

To celebrate Lent and fish fry season, Karrikin is releasing a fish sandwich with a side of fries.

Montgomery Inn

  • 9440 Montgomery Road, Montgomery; 925 Riverside Drive, East End.

Every Friday during Lent, Montgomery Inn is offering fried cod served with mac and cheese and a grilled yellowtail sandwich served with tartar sauce, Saratoga chips and barbecue sauce.

Nation Kitchen and Bar

  • 1200 Broadway St., Pendleton; 3435 Epworth Ave., Westwood.

Nation's "March BIT of the Month" is fish and chips: A fried haddock filet, shredded lettuce, pickles and tartar sauce on a toasted hoagie roll with a side of Saratoga chips. Plus, $1 from every BIT sold will go to the St. Aloysius Gonzaga School's After School Care Program.

Nine Giant Brewpub

  • 6095 Montgomery Road, Pleasant Ridge.

Each Friday, Nine Giant is offering panko-crusted fish, fries, sambal ketchup and remoulade, with an option for lemon and malt vinegar. The fish is available for dine-in and online carryout.

The Pony OTR

  • 1346 Main St., Over-the-Rhine.

On Fridays, the Pony in Over-the-Rhine is offering fried haddock and fries.

Pelican's Reef

  • 7261 Beechmont Ave., Anderson Township.

Pelican Reef is offering a wide variety of menu items, including tomato basil lobster chowder, beer-battered corona cod sandwich, seafood enchiladas and fish and chips, among others.

Revolution Rotisserie

  • 6063 Montgomery Road, Pleasant Ridge.

Revolution Rotisserie is offering a fish sandwich every single day: Beer-battered cod, served on thick-cut marbled rye with tatar sauce, American cheese, coleslaw and pickles, available for delivery and carryout.

Skyline Chili

  • So many locations.

It's not fish, but Skyline did bring out Greek spaghetti, a vegetarian version of the dish, just in time for Lent.

Urban Grill on Main

  • 6623 Main St., Newtown.

Urban Grill is offering Lenten lunch and dinners every Friday. Lunch options include shrimp po'boy, salmon sliders, grouper sandwiches, Mahi tacos and fish sticks and chips. Dinner options include a fish fry with a choice of beer-battered cod dinner or grilled Mahi dinner.
