A whale that appeared to be in need of assistance got a helping hand from two fishermen who now have an amazing selfie to show for their efforts.
The whale came swimming up to two different boats off Killarney Point in Australia on Tuesday, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Ron Kovacs, who was in one of the boats, explained what happened in aFacebook post published on Tuesday.
"He had some fishing line and two plastic bags on his head," Kovacs wrote. "I managed to grab at it but missed. He later came up to a trailer boat and presented his head as they [removed] the bag and to another the fishing line. It was as if he wanted for them to take it off."
Kovacs did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Michael Riggio, who was in one of the boats, snapped the above selfie while his friend, Ivan Iskenderian got rid of the trash.
"It was right on his lip ... he seemed like he wanted it off,” Iskenderian told the Telegraph. “It was surreal, we couldn’t believe our eyes."
Iskenderian said once the trash was removed, the whale splashed the water with its fin as if to thank him.
