Fishery managers to close Chinook salmon fishing on river
Oct. 6—State fishery managers are closing Chinook salmon retention in the main stem Columbia River recreational fishery starting Saturday.
Retention will be prohibited from the Buoy 10 line to the Highway 395 Bridge at Pasco, Washington.
Two commercial fall Chinook periods planned for Sunday and Wednesday are also rescinded.
The closure will ensure that nontreaty fisheries remain within the 15% allowable bright fall Chinook harvest rate, according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Coho fisheries in the main stem Columbia River will remain open. The daily adult bag limit for coho is three hatchery coho between Buoy 10 and the Tongue Point-Rocky Point line, and two per day from the line to Bonneville Dam.
