Fishing tournaments: 12 pound stringer wins Crappie Club tournament on St. Johns

Mitch McGill and Scherice McGill had a seven fish aggregate of 12.39 pounds to win the Florida Crappie Club tournament Nov. 13 on the St. John’s River/Lake George. George Parker and Rosie Parker were second with 12.31 pounds. Larry Durdan was third with 12.23 pounds. Brian Harford and Charles Harford had big fish with a 2.34 pounder.

Brant Sims and Cody Sims had 32.32 pounds to win the Rebel Boy's Bass Club classic tournament is Nov. 20 at Lake Istokpoga. Ken Singletary and Dustin Freeman were second with 28.41 pounds. Rick Miller and Riley Miller were third with 27.58 pounds. Jake Middleton took Day One big bass with a 4.37-pounder and Ken Singletary took Day Two big bass with a 4.81-pounder.

Danny Cannon and Gerald Mannin had a seven fish aggregate of 13.36 pounds to win the Sunshine State Crappie Trail tournament Nov. 20 at Lake Talquin. Mike Eathan and Brayden Nipper were second with 12.61 pounds. Mitch McGill and Scherice McGill were third with 11.69 pounds and also had big fish with a 2.15-pounder.

Mike Knapek and Stephen Knapek had 19.60 pounds to win the Lake Wales Po Boys Bass Club tournament is Nov. 21 on Lake Reedy. Howard Matthews and Cody Wilson tied with Don Smith and Mark Edwards for second with 12.80 pounds. Scetter Coleman took big bass with a 5.70-pounder.

Upcoming Tournaments

The next Sunday Open Series tournament is Nov. 28 on Lake Gibson. Entry fee is $40 a boat, including big bass. Time is 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children 10 and younger may fish with two adult anglers. Registration is open for the 2021 10th Anniversary Bobby Lane High School Cup Tournament to be held on Dec. 4, on the Kissimmee Chain out of Camp Mack. The tournament is open to all junior and high school age anglers. There are two divisions. High School Division (Grades 9-12) and Youth Division (Ages 14 and under) with age as of Dec. 4. There is a two-student team format, plus boat captain/coach. There is no entry fee this year and no national, team or club affiliation is required. The eighth annual Toys for Tots 4-Man Team Open Tournament will be at Camp Mack Guy Harvey Resort on Dec. 5. $260 per team. Anglers must fish as teams of four in two separate boats. The next Florida Crappie Club tournament is Dec. 11 on Crescent Lake out of the city ramp. $60 per boat for seven fish aggregate and big fish. Sign up is from 5:45 a.m. until 6:45 a.m. Tourney time is 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information call Tony Strollo at 352-584-6970.

The Fishing Misfits’ open tournament is Dec. 11 at Lake Fannie. No boats allowed over 110 horsepower and no pro anglers or guides are permitted. For more information call Harry at 863-397-6597.

The next CATCH’EM CRAPPIE tournament, held by Hoppy’s Marine, is Dec. 12 at Port Hatchineha. Safe light to noon. Up to four anglers per boat, $60 per boat, plus $5 ramp fee. The next Sunshine State Crappie Trail tournament is Dec. 18 on the St. John’s River/Lake George. One-time season membership fee is $50 and tournament entry fee is $100. The next Lake Wales Po Boys Bass Club tournament is Dec. 19 on Lake Istokpoga out of the U.S. 98 county ramp. There is a $35 membership fee per year with a $50 per team tournament entry fee and $20 per team big bass pot. All tournaments are safe light to 2 p.m. The club is seeking new members. The Winter Haven Lunker Lovers will begin their new season Jan. 9 on the Winter Haven South Chain out of the Lake Shipp Park ramp. The draw meeting will be held Jan. 4 at the Pantry Modern Diner in Auburndale. The Lunker Lovers tournaments are for members only. The Rebel Boy's Bass Club will change the club’s name to Bass N Boats and will hold their first tournament of the season Jan. 15 on Lake Parker.
