Fitzpatrick faces Evans in Irondequoit town supervisor race: What to know

Republican incumbent Rory Fitzpatrick will face Andrae Evans, a Democrat, in the race for Irondequoit town supervisor on Nov. 7.

Fitzpatrick was elected town supervisor in 2021, defeating Joseph Morelle Jr.

In Irondequoit, the town supervisor is elected to a two-year term, with a salary of $95,203, according to town’s adopted 2023 budget.

The Nov. 7 General Election is approaching in Monroe County. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday on Election Day. We will post the election results for Monroe County as they become available.

Meet the candidates: Irondequoit town supervisor

Rory Fitzpatrick

Party: Republican

Age: 48

Previous occupations: Owned Irondequoit’s Cooper Deli and prior to that played professional hockey for 15 years, 10 in the NHL and five for the Rochester Americans. Also started and managed The Rochester Hockey Academy and managed Rochester’s Paul Louis Ice Arena.

Education: Studied business at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, and hockey management and scouting at Sports Management Worldwide, a sports management training institution based in Portland, Oregon.

Current and previous elected offices held: Irondequoit town supervisor is Fitzpatrick’s first elected office.

Ballot lines: Republican; Conservative

Top priority: “Continue the major steps we have taken over the last two years in the areas of fiscal responsibility, public safety, green initiatives and bi-partisan governance.”

Age: 62

Previous occupation: Financial advisor. Evans also is a U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel (retired) who served one tour of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom and three in Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan. Awarded two Bronze Stars.

Education: Studied biology at Nazareth University (formerly Nazareth College), earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Excelsior University and studied at the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, Maxwell School, Syracuse University.

Current and previous elected offices held: Evans has not held elected office.

Ballot lines: Democratic; Working Families

Top priority: “Build safe neighborhoods, promote a robust business environment, develop a fairer tax structure, and design and implement a sustainable town infrastructure.”

What to know about Election Day 2023

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Early voting is available at limited locations between Oct. 28 and Nov. 5. Polls will be open from 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday through Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
