Five area wrestlers to compete for places at Michigan Individual State Finals
DETROIT — Southwestern Michigan will not have an individual state wrestling champ.
But five area wrestlers will compete for places Saturday at the Individual State Finals at Ford Field.
Edwardsburg's Nathan Andrina and Brandywine's Gavin Schoff reached the semifinals. But Andrina (45-5) was pinned by Fenton's Philip Lamka in Division 2 at 165 pounds and Schoff (42-7) was stuck by Olivet's Tyler Schofield in Division 3 at 157 pounds.

Joining Andrina and Schoff in Saturday's consolation bracket are Edwardsburg's 215-pounder Andrew Harris (34-10) in Division 2 and Brandywine's 106-pounder Josmar Perez (41-8) in Division 3.
Brandywine's Maddison Ward (38-5) is still alive in the girls 145-pound class. This is the second year of separate girls postseason competition.
