President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has noted the remarkable performance of air defence assets and personnel, who have shot down five Su Russian fighter-bombers, as well as 30 Shahed attack drones and several missiles on Christmas Eve.

On 22 December, Ukrainian defenders downed three Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers on one of the southern fronts.
On Christmas Eve, the Air Force reported that it had shot down a Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber on the Mariupol front and a Su-30 over the Black Sea.
