Five events for Halloween weekend, plus a guide to other ideas we've shared

Halloween and October-themed festivities abound this weekend throughout the metro.

Halloween weekend is upon us, which means there are plenty of things to do around the city.

My colleagues and I have been hard at work rounding up all kinds of scary (and not so scary) good fun for people of all ages to take part in.

Don't forget to find out when trick or treating takes place in your neighborhood, and if trunk-or-treats or faith-based festivals are your speed, we've got a list for that. We've also conjured up lists of the family-friendly Halloween events across town and those better suited for adults.

Looking for a scare? Perhaps try heading to one of the five scariest haunted attractions in the metro. And if you just want to try something new, there's always the list of horror themed food and drink spots, or the Mothica ice cream collaboration you can try.

We've covered a lot of ground for you, but if you're still not quite sold on any of the options above here are a few more Halloween and October-themed events to consider for the weekend.

1. Oktoberfest at Stonecloud Brewing Co.

Stonecloud's Oktoberfest party on Friday will include the launch of Holt My Beer 2, a collaboration with Mayor David Holt, plus dog adoptions courtesy of Patrons of the OKC Animal Shelter from 4 to 6:30 p.m., a meet and greet with Mayor Holt beginning about 5 p.m., a Stein-HOLT-ing competition at 6:15 p.m., and live music from Buffalo Jones & the Heard at 7 p.m.

2. Empire Slice House's 10-year anniversary

Join Empire Slice House for a day-long festival from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at 1720 NW 16 St. in OKC’s Plaza District. The 10th anniversary celebration will double as a customer appreciation event and feature live music and family-friendly fun, such as marinara wrestling, a pizza eating contest, a Halloween costume contest and a raffle with cash prizes benefiting Positive Tomorrows and Sisu Youth Services.

Individual slices will be available for sale at the event, just steps from the Plaza District Empire location where a full menu will be served all day. The event also will feature the Cascade Crusher, a Session Saison brewed in collaboration with Stonecloud Brewing Company, available now until supplies run out at any Empire location statewide and at the Stonecloud taproom.

Empire also has partnered with No Regrets Tattoo to cover the cost for the first 10 people who get one of the official Empire tattoos. Getting an Empire tattoo yields 50% off pizza for life at any existing or future locations.

4. Halloween Bar Crawls

Multiple bars will participate in Halloween themed bar crawls this weekend on both Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets for crawls sponsored by pubcrawls.com and Crawl With Us are on sale now and feature costume contests, multiple drink and food specials, access to several bars with no cover charge and more.
