Five Guys plans to close one Rockford location, open another by the end of 2022

ROCKFORD — Five Guys anticipates moving before the end of the year into its new location at East State and North Mill Road.

The made-to-order burgers, fries and hot dogs eatery is relocating from Perryville Crossing, 611 Highgrove Place, and will join the recently opened Mission BBQ in a two-tenant 6,000-square-foot building at the East State Street location.

The new location is bigger and offers more visibility.

Five Guys initially opened with 45 employees when it first came to Rockford in 2010. It's unknown if more employees will be hired for the new location.

Like its neighboring tenant, Mission BBQ, Five Guys does not have freezers as all its hamburger patties are fresh and formed by hand on-site. The restaurant also cuts its own fries.

Mission BBQ opened earlier this month and Valvoline Instant Oil Change, located directly west of the new Five Guys location, opened in the summer.
