RUSHVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Five people, including three children, died in a school bus/semi truck crash on Monday in western Illinois.

State Police officials said the crash happened on Route 24 around Parkview around 11:30 a.m. 3 children on the bus, the bus driver, and the truck driver all died.

Preliminary information from ISP shows the bus was traveling east on Route 24 and for an unknown reason, the vehicle crossed over into the westbound lanes in front of the semi truck. The vehicles crashed and became engulfed in flames.

According to a Facebook post from ISP Troop 6, Route 24 will be closed with an extended road closure for a crash investigation.
