Five kitchens in South MS fail health inspections, two for rodents, bugs or animals

Five kitchens in South Mississippi were cited by the state health department for critical violations since Aug. 18.

During that time there were 110 restaurants in South Mississippi that scored an A for no violations and 24 that got a B when violations were corrected during the inspection.

The five that got a C grade are:

IHOP at 11475 Cinema Drive, D’Iberville, had a follow-up inspection on Aug. 22 and scored another C when it was again cited for insects, rodents or animals present.

It had the same offense when inspected Aug. 1.

A second follow-up inspection on Sept. 1 showed the violation was corrected and the restaurant was scored a B.

This is the fourth C since 2020.

See-Wee-Roll, 600 Beach Blvd, at Edgewater Mall, Biloxi, had an inspection Aug. 24 for a permit renewal. It was cited for:

No person in charge and present who demonstrates knowledge and performs duty

No certified manager

Inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible

Corrected during the inspection was:

Proper eating, tasting, drinking or tobacco use

Food contact surface cleaned and sanitized

Toxic substance properly identified, stored, used

This was the first C since opening in 2022

Wendy’s at 2605 U.S. 90 in Gautier had a scheduled inspection Aug. 28. It was cited for improper cold holding temperature.

This is the first C dating back to 2012.

Quick Mart, 8328 Kiln Delisle Road, Pass Christian, was inspected Aug. 22 and was cited for no having no certified manager.

Corrected during the inspection was: adequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible

This was the first C dating back to 2021

Lyman Senior Citizen Facility at 14592 County Farm Road, Gulfport, had a scheduled inspection Aug. 28. It was cited for insects, rodents or animals present.

This was the first C dating back to 2011.

Restaurants and other food service establishments in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if violations are corrected during the inspection, and “C” if the violations are critical.
