Five from Louisville area make Kentucky All-Stars basketball teams that will face Indiana

Four boys and one girl from the Louisville area have been selected to the Kentucky All-Stars basketball teams that will face Indiana in June in their annual summer series.

DeSales’ Crew Gibson, Collins’ Kenyon Goodin, Evangel Christian’s Cyr Malonga and Ballard’s Gabe Sisk were selected to the Kentucky boys team. Manual’s JaKayla Thompson was selected to the girls squad.

The Kentucky-Indiana All-Stars games annually match the top senior basketball players from each state. This year’s games are set for June 9 at the Owensboro Sportscenter and June 10 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Tickets will be available at kentuckybasketballcoaches.org beginning May 5.

Kentucky All-State: Meet the 10 first-team boys basketball players selected by coaches

Mr. Basketball Reed Sheppard of North Laurel and Miss Basketball Haven Ford of Rowan County automatically qualified for the teams and will wear the No. 1 jerseys for Kentucky against Indiana. Sheppard has signed with the University of Kentucky, and Ford has signed with Murray State.

Among the Louisville-area selections, Gibson (Indiana Tech), Goodin (Bellarmine) and Malonga (East Carolina) have signed with colleges. Sisk is uncommitted, and Thompson recently reopened her recruitment after decommitting from Buffalo.

Kentucky’s head coaches are Rod Drake of Owensboro (boys) and Pete Fraley of Boyd County (girls). Assistant coaches are Iroquois’ Jeff Morrow (boys) and Pikeville’s Kristy Orem (girls).

Indiana will be led by Mr. Basketball Markus Burton of Penn and Miss Basketball Laila Hull of Zionsville. Burton is headed to Notre Dame and Hull to North Carolina.

Indiana’s boys lead the all-time series 102-44 and have won 44 of the past 52 meetings. Indiana’s girls lead the all-time series 52-40 after last year’s split.
