Five men were arrested for suspected involvement in a rioting case at Beo Crescent, police said in a statement on Wednesday (10 Aug).

Police said they received a report at about 11:10 pm on Sunday (07 Aug) from a 26-year old woman saying her 30-year-old husband was assaulted by a group of men at the estate.

The men, who are between 17 to 41 years old, were arrested within two hours. The fifth suspect was arrested the next day at Bukit Batok.

Initial investigations reveal that the suspects had allegedly assaulted the victim after a dispute earlier that evening. If convicted, the suspects may face a prison term of up to seven years and caning.

Investigations are still ongoing.
