Five MS Coast restaurants fail health inspection, one for the fifth time in 3 years

Inspectors at Mississippi Health Department found critical violations at five South Mississippi restaurants since mid-July, grading one restaurant a C for the fifth time since 2020 and another for the third time.

These restaurants were cited since July 21:

Sushilicious & Thai at 315 U.S. 90, Waveland, was inspected Aug. 4 for a permit renewal and earned its fifth C in three years.

It was cited for:

Food not in good condition, safe and unadulterated

Improper date marking and disposition

Corrected during the inspection was certified manager in place.

IHOP at 11475 Cinema Drive, D’Iberville, was inspected Aug. 1 for a permit renewal.

It was cited for:

Insects, rodents or animals present

Inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible, a repeat violation

Corrected during the inspection were:

Food separated and protected

Food contact surface cleaned and sanitized

Proper cold holding temperatures

This is the third C at the restaurant since 2020.

Twin Peaks restaurant, 3516 Sangani Blvd., D’Iberville, was inspected Aug. 1 for a permit renewal.

It was cited for:

Improper tasting, drinking or tobacco use, a repeat offense

Toxic substance properly identified, stored and used, a repeat offense

Inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible

Corrected during the inspection were:

Certified manager

Last inspection report posted

This is the first C dating back to 2015.

Circle K Store, 10010 U.S. 49, Gulfport, was inspected Aug. 3 for a permit renewal.

It was cited for:

No certified manager

Improper cold holding temperatures

Corrected during the inspection was adequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible

This was the first C since 2016.

El Sabor Costeno, 220 Eisenhower Dr., Biloxi, was inspected July 13. It had seven violations, six of which were corrected during the inspection. It was cited for sewage waste water not properly disposed.

During a follow-up inspection on Aug. 3, the restaurant again scored a C when the sewage waste water issue was not corrected.

Restaurants and other food service establishments in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if violations are corrected during the inspection, and “C” if the violations are critical.

Since July 21, there have been 92 restaurants in South Mississippi that scored an A for no violations and 14 that got a B when violations were corrected during the inspection.
