What made you want to become a park ranger?

My family and I frequently camp at Seneca Lake Park. During one of our trips, I had the opportunity to observe the park rangers interacting with guests in a really positive way while they were enjoying the lake with family. I couldn’t help but think how great it would be to have that beautiful setting as my “office” every day. I knew right then I was going to apply for the park ranger job.

What is your favorite part of the job?

Working with the guests and the employees at the parks. I have met some wonderful people and established some lifelong friendships.

What is your least favorite part?

Being in the office. I love being around the water at all our lakes. The views can be breathtaking.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy camping with my loved ones, hunting, hiking and fishing.

What advice would you give to visitors to MWCD lakes that would help make their visit more enjoyable?

Slow down and enjoy the beauty these parks and lakes have to offer. Take in the flora and the wildlife, take advantage of smelling the lilies and campfires, check out the moon and the stars.
