Five new restaurants to check out + more to keep an eye on

Hello, Spartanburg foodies!

If you're looking for a bite to eat between stores today − or are just already tired of Thanksgiving leftovers − here are five new restaurants on the Spartanburg food scene to check out:

Cribbs Kitchen Tyger River

Cribbs Kitchen opened its second location Cribbs Kitchen Tyger River on Tuesday. The new location offers the same menu as the downtown location and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

On the menu: Burgers, sandwiches, salads and Southern-inspired appetizers and small plates. A recent customer favorite, according to owner William Cribb, is their tuna poke.

Konnichiwa Steak, Sushi & Bento

There's a new dining option on West Main Street! Konnichiwa opened in October and is the locally-founded restaurant chain's ninth location overall and its third in Spartanburg County.

On the menu: Hibachi rice bowls, ramen, wings, and more than 50 varieties of sushi and sashimi. Customer favorites include the Mama Roll, which is filled with shrimp tempura, crab, and cream cheese and can be served fried or baked, the New York Strip Hibachi Rice Bowl, and the Chicken Bento.

Sully's Steamers

Sully's Steamers is now open at The Hub. Its hours are 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, though hours may vary during the holidays.

On the menu: More than 30 bagel sandwiches including customer favorites like The Griswold, with turkey, bacon, provolone and pepper jack cheese, and The Nacho Maximus, a turkey and cheddar sandwich topped with Doritos.

Prime Restaurant & Whiskey Bar

For those looking for a relaxing dinner out, Prime Restaurant & Whiskey Bar, which opened in August, is a fresh choice downtown.

On the menu: A self-serve salad bar, which diners can make a meal from for $14 or add onto any entrée for $6. Other customer favorites include the ribeye, grilled marinated swordfish, pan-seared salmon, and Oysters Rockefeller. The whiskey lounge menu includes sharable items and light bites like charcuterie boards, soft pretzels, sliders, and fried goat cheese bites, in addition to 26 varieties of whiskey.

If you're hitting up Black Friday sales at WestGate Mall, swing by Artessence. The family-owned cafe opened in July and serves a variety of Colombian coffee drinks, sandwiches, salads and desserts.

On the menu: The cafe serves an extensive coffee and tea menu. Customers can purchase everything from espresso to affogato, hot or iced lattes, frappés, and caramel and pumpkin cappuccinos. They also offer klee, a hot espresso drink with sweetened condensed milk and foam, matcha, iced teas and smoothies. Some other menu favorites include the Da Vinci salad, The Caravaggio salad, and The Gustavo Courbet sandwich.

Blue Moon Bodega (220 E. Daniel Morgan Ave.) is a little over a week away from officially open. Owners Molly Cashman and Chris Walker gave us a first look last week. Here's a link to where I share some of the exciting (and tasty!) things ahead:

Greenville County-based taco eatery Tacos & Bla Bla Bla plans to open their new Spartanburg location in Drayton Mills Marketplace (1802 Drayton Rd.) Dec. 2. Their menu includes fried avocados and Mexican corn on the cob appetizers, nachos, fajitas, taco salad, Bla Bla Fries, and, of course, tacos.

Nothing Bundt Cakes (1915 East Main Street,#1) is also soon to open. No date has been announced, but the shop is currently hiring.
