Five-star guard Boogie Fland visits Kentucky, and other UK basketball recruiting news

“I chose Kentucky because of the history of success with the guards that have come through there,” Boogie Fland told On3 about his commitment. “Coach Cal is going to challenge me to be the best version of myself.”

A highly anticipated period of recruiting visits for the Kentucky men’s basketball program began over the weekend, with five-star combo guard Boogie Fland taking an official visit to UK.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Fland is ranked as the No. 9 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class, and the second-best combo guard in that group.

Over the summer, Fland released a list of his top eight schools: Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, St. John’s and UConn.

By the end of September, Fland will have been on the campuses of all eight of those schools.

Fland has previously taken official visits to Indiana, Michigan and North Carolina, as well as unofficial visits to both St. John’s and UConn.

Later this month, Fland will visit Alabama (Sept. 22) and Maryland (Sept. 29).
