Five-star wide receiver Brandon Inniss announces transfer to American Heritage

One of the best up-and-coming prospects in Broward County is joining a championship team.

Five-star 2023 wide receiver Brandon Inniss, who previously played at University School and TRU Prep Academy, is transferring to American Heritage. Inniss announced his transfer on his Twitter account on Monday afternoon.

“Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, and teachers at NSU University School for the past three years of life,” Inniss wrote. “With that being said I will be transferring to American Heritage Plantation for the next two years.”

Inniss and other U-School players were caught in a complicated situation due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. U-School, which is affiliated with Nova Southeastern University, canceled its football season last year because of the pandemic.

Nearly all of the players on the team, which has consistently been among the best in South Florida, elected to play for TRU Prep Academy while remaining students at U-School. Private-school students can play sports for another school if the school they attend does not offer that sport.

Inniss was already recognized as one of the top players in his class before playing for TRU Prep. He was a second-team All-County pick as a freshman in 2019, scoring 10 receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. He also had 14 tackles and a pair of interceptions on defense.

He continued to blossom in his sophomore year, earning first-team All-County honors. He had 32 catches for 811 yards and eight touchdowns in TRU Prep Academy’s nine games.

Inniss joins an American Heritage team that won the Class 5A state championship last year. Inniss’ arrival could help turn the Patriots’ offense into a juggernaut. He joins an offense that already features rising junior running back Mark Fletcher, the Sun Sentinel’s 2020 Broward County small schools offensive player of the year, and fellow touted transfer Santana Fleming, a rising junior who is rated a four-star prospect.

Inniss is garnering attention nationally, as well. He is committed to play in the 2023 All-American Bowl, and he has an invitation to work out at the Under Armour Future 50 event next year.

The rising junior is a five-star prospect in 247Sports’ composite ranking, and he is listed as the top wide receiver and No. 7 player in the 2023 class. Inniss has more than 30 college scholarship offers, including offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Ohio State.

“I either stay home (or) I go out (of state),” Inniss said in March. “It’s really just where I feel at home and feel like family.”
