Five state parks in Tahoe are now reopened for day use. Here’s where to visit
Several California state parks in the Tahoe area were set to reopen Saturday — just in time for the summer season.
The Sierra State Parks Foundation announced Friday on its Facebook page that five Tahoe parks will reopen for day use.
Which parks are open?
The following parks will be open starting Saturday, according to the foundation:
Sugar Pine Point State (including Visitor Center), 7360 W. Lake Blvd., Tahoma
Emerald Bay State Park (including Visitor Center), California 96150
Kings Beach State Recreation Area - 8318 N. Lake Blvd., Kings Beach
Tahoe State Recreation Area - 1100 N. Lake Blvd., Tahoe City
Donner Memorial State Park (including Visitor Center) - 12593 Donner Pass Road, Truckee
Are the campgrounds open yet?
Camping at the parks is still on hold, according to the foundation.
Due to the historic snowpack in the Sierra, parks will have separate dates for camping reservations.
Sugar Pine Point State will open reservations June 15, Tahoe State Recreation Area on June 16 and Emerald Bay Boat Camp on June 8, according to California Parks Department websites.
Donner Memorial State Park campgrounds will open June 8, but it may be delayed depending on snowmelt and repairs.
To reserve a campsite, you can do so online ReserveCalifornia or call 800-444-7275.
