Dillon Gabriel isn't the only famous name in the OU quarterback room.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback General Booty has made headlines since he transferred from Tyler Junior College to the University of Oklahoma in May of 2022.

Here are five things to know about General Booty.

Where is General Booty from?

Booty, a redshirt sophomore, stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 190 pounds. Booty hails from Allen, Texas.

Is General Booty his real name?

His full name is General Axel Booty.

First off, he’s part of the famous Booty family from Shreveport, Louisiana. And Booty’s father, Abram, a former Louisiana State wide receiver, reportedly has a lifelong fascination with the military and vowed to use the name “General” if he ever had a son. So begat General Axel Booty.

Where did General Booty play in 2021?

Booty played for Tyler Junior College. He threw for 3,410 yards, leading the nation at the junior college level. Booty also racked up 27 touchdown passes, ranking him fourth among junior college quarterbacks.

Why did General Booty play juco football in 2021?

After graduating high school, Booty had offers from Division I schools Liberty, Louisiana-Monroe and Yale. He played junior college ball to boost his stock, and it worked. He ended up at OU.

Is General Booty related to other football players with the same last name?

Yes. His father, Abram Booty, played wide receiver at LSU from 1997-2000 before beginning his career as a high school coach.

General also has a pair of uncles who played football at a high level. Josh Booty played quarterback alongside Abram at LSU before spending time in both the MLB and the NFL. Then there's John David Booty, who played quarterback at USC before being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Does General Booty play for OU?

He played in at least six games for Tyler Junior College before transferring, but he has been actively on the roster at OU for over a year. While he only made one appearance, coming in against TCU in October, he made the trip to all 13 games last year.

Still, Booty is a rising star on campus. According to On3 NIL Valuation, the player marketing index that sets the standard market NIL value for high school and college athletes, Booty also has a valuation of $76,000.
