Five things to do in Sioux Falls this weekend: Germanfest, Sidewalk Arts Festival and more

With fall quickly approaching, seasonal events are starting, highlighted by Country Apple Orchard's Fall Festival.

That's not all, though. There are a number of other events including German Fest, I Love the 90s Tour, Sidewalk Arts Festival and the annual Fall Junk Fest.

Here's what you need to know about this weekend's activities:

Germanfest

At Fawick Park, Sioux Falls Sister Cities will host Germanfest, which is a celebration of a long-standing partnership with Potsdam, Germany.

The event will include Dachshund Dog Races, puppet shows, live music and food and beverage vendors. Those include Holiday Inn, Pietz Kuchen Kitchen, Marco's, Family Treats Homemade Ice Cream, Gold Star Kettle Corn, SF Sister Cities and Beal Distributing. The dog races will be held at 4:30 p.m., with the puppet show starting at 2 and 3 p.m.

The event will run from 1 p.m., to 10 p.m. Live music will start at 2 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go towards the event next year, scholarship funding and maintaining a "Sister Cities" relationship with Potsdam.

I Love the 90s Tour

The clock will be turned back at the Denny Sanford Premier Center on Friday, as a host of '90s pop stars will take the stage as part of the I Love the 90's Tour.

Acts include Vanilla Ice, Coolio, Rob Base, Montell Jordan, All-4-One, Tone Loc, Young MC, Tag Team and more. Tickets for the event range from $26.50 to $85 and can be purchased online. The concert is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.

Sidewalk Arts Festival

More than 230 vendor booths will be up and running on Saturday morning as part of the Sidewalk Arts Festival in downtown Sioux Falls. 

The event is a fundraiser for the Washington Pavilion of Arts & Science, and will feature activities for kids, live entertainment and food vendors. The event will go from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is free of charge.

Fall Junk Fest

A number of artists will be at the 12th annual Fall Junk Fest at the Nest on Saturday.  

It's the second part of the festival, which is also typically held in the spring. There will also be food options for event goers at Lunchboxsfu, which sells wraps, Indian tacos, sandwiches and more.

The event will be held at 3720 S. River Bluff Rd., in Sioux Falls. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fall Festival at the Country Apple Orchard

A number of kids activities will be held at The Country Apple Orchard over the weekend.

It'll be an all-weekend event. On Friday, the festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Saturday. On Sunday, the orchard will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Activities include corn mazes, pony rides, beer garden, petting zoo and a number of other attractions. Admission for the event is $14 for everyone taller than 35 inches. A seasonal pass can be purchased for $35 per person.

The festival will be held on the weekends up until Halloween.
