Heidi Klum, Jessica Simpson, and More Stars Show Off Their Homes on Instagram

Instagram has provided us all an intimate glimpse into the lives of our favorite celebrities. With a click of a button, we now know what the stars eat, what they drink, and—most important—how they decorate their homes. From the envy-inducing gourmet kitchen of Oprah Winfrey's Santa Barbara estate to Jessica Simpson's black-and-white foyer to Emily Ratajkowski's artsy pad, here are a few instances when famous folks inadvertently gave a peek into the privacy of their not-so-humble homes via social media.

Rachel Zoe

The celebrity stylist's quippy post about her husband Roger Bermanus's tendency to rock sweatpants in the morning while she is dressed to the nines also provides us with a glimpse of their home. Large and white with wrought-iron accents, the house appears to have plenty of large windows and lush greenery on the property. And while we can't see the inside, Zoe explained her decor philosophy in a 2014 interview with InStyle as such: "I consider myself a minimalist, but I do love to include a few bright accessories. My home has to feel airy and bright with natural light."

Ellen Pompeo

During a video shoot with her dog, the longtime Grey's Anatomy star also showed off her traditional foyer. A stone pathway and manicured hedges are visible outside, and when the pooch walks in the doorway, Pompeo's black-and-white tile floor is revealed.

Natalie Portman

This isn't the first time the Vox Lux star has posted a photo posing in front of these Tudor-style windows with diamond-shaped panes, so it feels safe to assume that they are a part of her home. Other posts show that the windows are flanked by dark wood and face an outdoor brick patio.

Jessica Simpson

Thanksgiving meant a family photo in the foyer for the singer turned fashion mogul. Simpson, her husband, Eric Johnson, and their children all posed in front of their staircase. Behind them, the walls are decorated with bright Pop art prints of the Beatles, which contrast with the black-and-white color scheme of the floor and banister.

Heidi Klum

On their way to the American Music Awards, the model and her husband, Tom Kaulitz, traipsed across a stylish marble front stoop. In the background, a large front door with white trim and sculptural trees are visible.

Brooke Shields

Good design never gets old. Brooke Shields's Instagram post on May 8 shows that some of the same pieces that decorated the supermodel's Greenwich Village townhouse when AD photographed it in 2012 are still there today. She's leaning against a white George III settee, and her curule-form stool covered in a David Hicks fabric from Lee Jofa can be seen in the background. Designer David Flint Wood and MADE architects helped Shields renovate her place.

Emily Ratajkowski

The model's jade green sofa, colorful rugs, marble coffee table, and gold lamp got a lot of love from other celebrities. "So purdy," commented Vanessa Hudgens, while Rita Ora called Ratajkowski's decor "so calm." A second picture in the post shows a wider view of her colorful living room, and she tags Grant Levy-Lucero, the artist who created the unique piece of pottery she has on display.

Tracee Ellis Ross

A stylish outfit calls for a stylish place to pose, and the Black-ish star's plush gray velvet couch and simple artwork provided the perfect backdrop as she showed off her Marc Jacobs gown. Behind her, a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf is crammed full of reading material and more art.

Mindy Kaling

Fans of the comedian were no doubt excited to see a rare photo of her posing with her daughter Katherine, but we couldn't help but look past that to check out her decor. Though much of Kaling's living room is taken up by a playpen, the room appears bright and stylish, with blue walls and a tiled fireplace.

Katherine Schwarzenegger

A few things are clear from this picture of the future Mrs. Chris Pratt: She treats her dogs like family, allowing her pooch Persimmon to chill on her simple beige sofa, and she appreciates a gallery wall that is perfectly aligned in a grid.

Hilary Duff

Before a night out with her fiancé, Matthew Koma, Duff stopped to snap a picture in what looks like an antique-inspired circular mirror. A plant and two interesting round light fixtures are visible in the reflection behind the couple.

Sam Smith

The singer kicked back on his rustic porch, with the French accordion doors behind him offering a peek into the living room. Inside is a cozy-looking tan couch and armchairs with plenty of pillows underneath a wrought-iron chandelier, and a large front window. It's not entirely clear whether this is the home the Grammy winner talked about during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2017, but Smith told DeGeneres at the time that he believed his house was haunted. "My house is, like, 300 years old, it used to be a school," he said. "I just hear crazy, crazy stuff. And my sister, at night, she feels like someone is staring at her when she sleeps." When asked why the paranormal activity didn't scare him away from the home, he replied, "I have a good relationship with the ghosts."

Jenny Mollen and Jason Biggs

On St. Patrick's Day, Mollen shared a snapshot of her son collecting gold coins on a marble coffee table. Next to his treasure is a clear indicator that she and her husband are into design: a book highlighting the complete works of architect Richard Neutra. A gray rug and a jewel-tone blue sofa are also visible.

Alec Baldwin

If you can look past the actor's adorable son Romeo, you'll notice a modern, all-white kitchen with a big island and a stainless-steel oven and range hood in this photo shared by the star recently. The backsplash appears to be white marble, and the cabinets have glass doors showing off dish- and glassware. The kitchen looks bright and pristine, but it is clearly lived-in—Baldwin's wife, Hilaria, can be seen whipping something up!

Tyler Perry

The director and actor celebrated the start of Black History Month by sharing an image of Barack Obama visiting his in-home library. During the 2015 visit, the Madea creator showed the former president two antique chairs he bought at auction which belonged to another former White House resident, Abraham Lincoln.

Yolanda Hadid

The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star showed off the idyllic setup in the bathroom of her Pennsylvania farmhouse. A brown leather armchair with a gray Hermès pillow and matching throw provides the perfect place for the mom of models Gigi and Bella to kick up her feet on the edge of the adjacent sleek white tub. Wide-plank wood floors add to the chic farmhouse vibe, and a number of books are on hand to keep her occupied as she unwinds. Family photos are a cute, personal touch!

Reese Witherspoon

Apparently without meaning to, the Big Little Lies star gave her fans a peek into her home when she shared a picture of herself helping her son Tennessee learn lines for his school play. The pair sit on an oversize white couch with a blue pattern and a light gray throw. Behind them, sunlight attempts to peek in through light, white curtains leading up to French doors.

Kate Hudson

The 39-year-old mother of three, who welcomed daughter Rani Rose with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa last fall, renovated a bathroom in her California home months before the baby arrived. Hudson documented the room's demolition and later the progress of her baby bump once the update was complete with dark wood floors, white walls and cabinetry, and what her followers dubbed a "stripper pole" in the center of the space.

Lady Gaga

The A Star Is Born actress posed in front of an airy, sunlit kitchen space and a rustic French country-finished set of glass-paneled cabinets filled with what appears to be a Versace-designed china set.

Oprah Winfrey

There's nothing diminutive about the talk show queen's sprawling Santa Barbara estate. Winfrey often posts crops from her garden and cooking updates from within her massive gourmet kitchen. The former Chicago resident gave more of glimpse inside her exclusive home in a video posted before last year's Golden Globes shows a towering front hall with striped taffeta drapes, antique furniture, and a brightly lit foyer.

Ariana Grande

In December, the "Thank U, Next" singer posted a photo of her sparsely decorated home featuring stockings hanging below a floating mantelpiece (sans fireplace) and an upside-down Christmas tree affixed to the ceiling. When asked about the decision, Grande later told photographers, "Sometimes life be upside down."

Selena Gomez

On the occasion of her 25th birthday, the now 26-year-old singer gave a glimpse into her airy kitchen complete with a stone-topped island, vaulted ceilings, and a set of gleaming copper cookware.

Correction: An earlier version of this article indicated that Lady Gaga played the role of Donatella Versace in American Crime Story. The role was played by Penelope Cruz.
