Here’s five ways to save on Amazon Prime Day

Get ready because there will be a 45-hour long flurry of sales and promotions at Amazon this week.

Prime Day kicks off Tuesday at 3 a.m. and lasts until 11:59 Wednesday night. Consumer blogger Andrea Woroch offered up five easy ways to save money on Prime Day 2022.

DON’T ASSUME PRIME DAY DEALS WILL BE THE BEST YOU CAN FIND

Woroch says sometimes you can find better deals if you’re patient and do your homework.

“A lot of people assume Prime Day is going to be the best deal they can get. The reality is some of the products could be sold for a lower price later in the year or shoppers can find a better deal for the same or similar product at a competitor,” she said.

Woroch said Prime shoppers can use browser-extension consumer tools like the Camelizer from CamelCamelCamel.com and Sidekick from CouponCabin.com.

“[The Camelizer] analyzes products sold on Amazon and lets you know if now is the best price you can get or if it’s been sold for less previous to Prime Day,” Woroch said.

LOOK FOR WAYS TO EARN FREE CASH

Woroch said shoppers can earn cash through various Prime Day promotions, like the Prime Stampcard program, which can earn members a $10 credit. Woroch also recommends the Fetch Rewards cashback app that earns you points towards gift cards when shoppers snap a picture of their receipt.

“Amazon has been hosting various promotions for Prime members to earn credit towards Prime Day shopping,” Woroch said. “For example, you can get $5 if you buy a ticket to the Disney-Pixar movie, Lightyear.”

CONSIDER BUYING REFURBISHED ELECTRONICS

Some of the best deals on Prime Dal are going to be on electronics, especially personal gadgets, Woroch said. She recommends shoppers look at Amazon’s “like-new” refurbished products.

“These are guaranteed to work like new. They’ve been inspected and fixed if there have been any issues. You’re also getting a one year warranty, which is essentially [the same you would get] with brand new products,” Woroch said.

PAY ATTENTION TO HOW YOU’RE PAYING

You can earn points or cash back depending on what kind of credit card you’re using, Woroch said.

“Maybe now is a good time to open a new Amazon Prime credit card. You’re going to get an extra hundred bucks you can use on Prime Day instantly,” she said.

REVIEW THE RETURN POLICY

A lot of people just assume everything they buy on Amazon is going to fall under Amazon’s return policy, but that may not be the case if you buy from a third-party seller.

“A third-party seller could have their own more restrict policy,” Woroch said. “Maybe you have to pay for return shipping, or you have a shorter amount of time to return something. Some items might fall under final sale.”
