Five women named as finalists for Lucille Nussdorfer Woman of the Year Award

DENNISON ‒ Five area women are finalists for the 2023 Lucille Nussdorfer Tuscarawas County Woman of the Year Award, presented annually by the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum.

Each finalist will receive a basket of gifts and the winner will receive a necklace by Alan Rodriguez of Rodriguez' House of Stones. The award is given to a woman who makes a significant impact in her community.

2023 nominees

Patricia Feller
Patricia Feller

Patricia Feller of Dover is being nominated for her work at the J.E. Reeves Victorian Home and Carriage House Museum. Feller has been active with the Dover Historical Society since the 1970s and she has been on the team to help restore the home back to its original state. She has participated in research on the mansion, has helped with numerous events and has sat on the Dover Historical Society Board for years. She also has volunteered with the Dover Library, Dover School Band and Choir and many others.

Carmel Haueter
Carmel Haueter

Carmel Haueter of Bolivar has had an volunteer impact on Tuscarawas County. For decades she was the executive director of the Rainbow Connection. She has also volunteered for the Strawberry Festival in Bolivar for more than 16 years and has helped with the Exchange Club. Carmel has also been president of the Dover Rotary Board, been an ambassador for the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce, volunteered with the Dover Library, Trinity Church of Zoar, Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District and the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Auxiliary.

Debbie Knisely
Debbie Knisely

Debbie Knisely has been nominated for her work creating the Alley Cats Marketplace and Fresh the Market in downtown New Philadelphia, giving local artisans, musicians, bakers to place to sell their goods. Knisely has helped with the creation of Artagain Alley, volunteers for several organizations including Tuscarawas United Way, Tuscarawas Philharmonic, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Little Theater, and more. Her latest project has been to help renovate another downtown building to house Lacey PAC Adaptive Movement Center to support those with special needs to learn how to dance.

Emily Lane

Emily Lane of Dover has been a volunteer coach for the Tuscarawas County YMCA for more than 13 years and has volunteered over thousands of hours at practices, swim meets and other duties for the Silver Streaks Swim Team, teaching 5 to 7 year old the fundamentals of swimming. Lane has also volunteered time and been a advocate for the United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tuscarawas County.

Amy Myers
Amy Myers

Amy Myers of Uhrichsville leads her fellow employees at the Barnett Realtors for volunteer projects including being involved in the Community Day of Caring, has taken gifts to the residents of Park Village, is active on the County Women’s Council for Realtors and has advocated for the Twin City Chamber of Commerce. At Immaculate Conception School she annually provides the graduation gifts to every preschooler and serves on the Women’s Altar Society. Myers also has spent numerous hours as an athletic official for events advocating for sports education.
