Five years after disappearing in Italy, the FBI is asking for help finding a Marlboro man
MARLBORO – A Marlboro man disappeared after he was last seen hiking in a remote area of Italy in 2019. Five years later, authorities are asking the public to help find him.
The Newark FBI is asking for the public's help in the investigation of Liam Biran, born on January 26, 1987, authorities said.
According to the FBI, Biran left home on April 8, 2019, to visit his grandparents in Israel, and from there traveled to the wine country in Italy and planned to go to France. He had booked a flight to return to the United State from Paris on May 16, 2019, but was not on the flight.
Biran's last known activity was a purchase made on his credit card for a train ticket to Turin, Italy, the FBI said. During the investigation, Italian police detectives discovered Biran was in the Aosta Valley, and stayed in multiple hostels and became friendly with other travelers.
Before his international trip in 2019, Biran spent time living and working in New Orleans and New York City, authorities said. He wrote an online blog about his love of wine and wine country, and the FBI said his family and friends said he loved to travel and discussed the goal of becoming a sommelier.
Biran has brown hair, brown eyes, is 5’8” tall and around 160 pounds, with a muscular build, according to the FBI. He also has a gap between his two front teeth.
