Flagboy Giz uses dental floss, determination to craft his Mardi Gras Indians suit

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — He’s a fifth-generation New Orleans native who studied to be an electrical engineer.

After 15 years as a hotel valet, he found his voice.

With dental floss, determination and designer dreams, this New Orleans man spends all year stitching beads across a canvas that comes together as the suit that transforms him into a Mardi Gras Indian.

He becomes Flagboy Giz.

Flagboy because he carries the flag for his tribe.

The Wild Tchoupitoulas.

“Giz” is short for his nickname, “Gizmo.”
