Flagler Beach man killed in hit & run crash in Volusia County

Florida Highway Patrol crash investigators are working to identify the driver who hit a man with their car early Tuesday morning  then drove away from the scene.

Troopers say the victim, identified only as a 23-year-old man from Flagler Beach, was walking in the inside westbound lane of West International Speedway Blvd. near Brick Rd. around 5:30 a.m. when he was hit by the suspect vehicle, a 2014 Nissan Sentra.

According to FHP, the impact with the Sentra forced the man directly into the path of a pickup truck in the outside westbound lane and he was run over again.

Troopers say witnesses reported seeing as many as two more vehicles hit the man after the initial collision.

The man died at the scene, according to FHP. No one else involved in the crash reported any injuries.

The Sentra continued westbound on International Speedway Blvd. after the crash.

Troopers say they found the car later that morning but the driver was nowhere to be found.

The vehicle has been entered into evidence, but they’re still actively working to figure out who was driving it at the time of the crash.

Tips reported to Crimeline can be made anonymously and could become eligible for a reward if they lead to an arrest.
