Flames Engulf Cars Being Transported on English Highway

Several electric vehicles being transported by truck went up in flames on a highway in England on Monday, December 5, shutting traffic in both directions, according to the Nottingham fire service.

Footage posted to Twitter by Extreme Motorhoming Adventures, an account run by a couple traveling the UK and Europe, shows several vehicles alight on the side of the M1 near Nottingham.

The source described the blaze as “scary”, saying on Twitter: “Could feel the heat going past.”

The Nottinghamshire fire and rescue service said the fire broke out at around 1:30 pm and involved a “car transporter with seven electric vehicles well alight.”

Traffic was impacted for several hours as crews worked to get the fire under control.

There were no injuries and no other vehicles involved in the incident, the fire service said. Credit: Extreme Motorhoming Adventures via Storyful
