Flash flood warning issued for Drake, Masonville areas, expiring at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday

A flash flood warning is in effect for the southern portion of the Cameron Peak Fire burn area, and people in the area are urged to move to higher ground.

The warning covers the areas of Masonville and Drake, and possible flood locations include Cedar Cove, Moondance Way, Stringtown Gulch, Big Bear, the Retreat and Storm Mountain.

It's in effect through 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 21.

Life-threatening flash flooding is possible, including debris flow of mud, rock, vegetation and other loose materials the Upper Buckhorn and Lower Buckhorn Creek drainage, according to an emergency message from the Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority.

The National Weather Service issued the warning about 8:48 p.m.

Multiple flood and thunderstorm warnings were in place across Colorado on Wednesday as storms moved through on a day deemed as having an "enhanced" risk of severe weather.

In eastern Colorado on Wednesday afternoon, two tornadoes formed side by side in Washington County between Akron and Anton, which is about 80 miles east of the Denver metro area.
